The Nanchang–Changsha 1,000-kV AC transmission project is progressing steadily.
On September 30, on the eve of National Day, nearly 20 employees from Jiangxi Provincial Transmission and Transformation Engineering Company were conducting tower‑erection work at Site No. 8001 of Section 4 of the 1,000‑kV Nanchang–Changsha UHV transmission line in Sixi Town, Shanggao County, Jiangxi Province. Hu Gebiao, head of the Owner’s Project Department at State Grid Jiangxi Electric Power Co., Ltd., stated that construction along the entire line will continue without a holiday during the National Day period, adhering to the original schedule to ensure completion and commissioning within the year.

On September 23, 2021, State Grid Corporation of China issued a notice of award, announcing that Pingxiang High Class Insulator Electrical Porcelain Co., Ltd. had been selected as the successful bidder for the 39th procurement batch of 2021 (the fourth tender for line installation materials under transmission and transformation projects) of State Grid Corporation of China, with project number 0711-21OTL10921017.

According to State Grid Corporation’s plan, during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the total investment in UHV AC and DC projects will reach RMB 300.2 billion, with 12,600 kilometers of new UHV AC transmission lines and 174 million kVA of additional substation capacity, as well as 17,200 kilometers of new DC transmission lines and 163 million kW of additional converter capacity. As a result, the UHV grid is set to enter a new phase of intensive construction.

The world’s first insulators for a salt‑lake railway have begun cleaning.
The Qarhan Salt Lake area has a high concentration of airborne salt, which readily deposits on railway traction power supply catenary equipment, causing circuit breaker tripping and even widespread power outages, thereby increasing the risk of train‑operation safety incidents. To ensure the smooth operation of the Qinghai–Tibet Railway, the Golmud Overhaul Workshop of the Xining Power Supply Section of the Qinghai–Tibet Group Company will carry out a 20‑day cleaning campaign on traction power supply equipment in sections affected by salt contamination within its jurisdiction.

On September 24, the foundation‑first pilot ceremony for Tower No. SN2003 of Section 1 of the Baihetan–Zhejiang ±800 kV UHVDC transmission line project, undertaken by Heilongjiang Transmission and Transformation Company, was held in Xianlong Town, Yongchuan District, Chongqing. This marked the official commencement of foundation construction for this section of the line.

To accurately assess the insulation performance of porcelain insulators along the transmission line, from January 23 to 26, the Baise Bureau of China Southern Power Grid Ultra-High Voltage Company organized 36 operation and maintenance personnel to conduct insulation resistance tests on 20,708 ceramic insulators of the ±500 kV Xing’an DC transmission line over a period of four days. All the ceramic insulators were found to be in good condition.

On July 12, 2021, China Southern Power Grid Company Limited’s Ultra-High Voltage Transmission Company announced the results of its 2021 framework tender for main‑grid conductors and certain primary equipment. Relying on its strong technical capabilities and solid market reputation, Pingxiang High Class Insulator Electrical Porcelain Co., Ltd. successfully won the bid for the project titled “±500 kV and Above DC Porcelain Disc Suspension Insulators.”
