The Gansu section of the Gansu–Zhejiang ±800 kV UHV DC transmission project has been fully connected.

On September 14, at the junction of Jingtai County and Jingyuan County in Baiyin City, Gansu Province, the Gansu–Zhejiang ±800 kV ultra-high-voltage direct-current transmission project (hereinafter referred to as the “Gansu–Zhejiang DC Project”) successfully completed the overhead‑line construction across the Yellow River, marking the full line connectivity of the project’s Gansu section.

The Yellow River crossing section is a critical control point for the entire project. The terrain in this area is extremely rugged, and the region is also subject to strong winds in the river valley, posing significant construction challenges and placing stringent demands on safety management and construction accuracy. The construction team erected four new steel towers and employed an independent tension‑section crossing method to span the Yellow River.

 

According to reports, the Longdong–Zhejiang Power Transmission Project is a key initiative under the National Power Development Plan. The transmission line stretches 2,370 kilometers, running from Wuwei in Gansu Province in the west to Shaoxing in Zhejiang Province in the east, and is expected to be completed and put into operation by 2027. At that time, it will be able to deliver more than 36 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to Zhejiang annually, including over 21.2 billion kilowatt-hours from renewable sources, thereby providing strong support for coordinated energy development and the green, low-carbon transition across eastern and western regions.
